Or “Catch Up”, if you will, ’cause I gotta lot to catch y’all up on. So let me just start with where we left off two-and-half weeks ago. (Wow, 2 1/2 WEEKS! WTF, Johnny?) Last time we spoke, I was sweatin’ my ππ off in Chatsworth and ducking security guards trying to get a shot in. Since then, I’ve taken a few more steps in my ongoing self-education on the anatomy of π‘π‘. The process of constructing them isn’t actually as complicated as it sounds…or, I should say, as complicated as it has sounded to ME for years. The Upper is attached to the insole, which is then glued to the Midsole, and the whole operation is then glued to the Outsole. Simple, right? Maybe…so long as you know what materials to start with.
Cross THIS off my Bucket List!
And this.
And for those who don’t know…there’s this thang called EVA foam, which is the backbone of most midsoles. But what kind of EVA foam do you need? You have to make sure your midsole will be strong enough to survive the wear-and-tear of getting smushed a thousand times a day. There’s also this other thang called foam density: Low density is for objects like seat cushions and fake swords, while the higher densities are for boots and Kevlar vests. But of course, I knew none of this when I stepped into Joann’s Fabrics a couple of weeks ago!
Apparently, there are specialty shops that sell nothing BUT foam, and one of them is right here in LA. It’s a prop shop that’s right next door to a production office in Burbank, so I’m pretty excited about that. The place is called Foam Mart. The guys who work there are nice and knowledgeable and I’m really looking forward to working with them in the future.
The foam mats labeled with the BLUE chalk are the real thick, dense π©π©
So, moving on from that… I’ve also got some news on the NFT front. Actually, there is no NFT front! Not on this website, anyway. Apparently, the whole crypto-wallet-on-a-WordPress-theme thang was a little too much science for me, so I just bagged it completely. Instead, what I’m gonna do is hold on to my OpenSea account and create hyperlinks on this blog which will take you to my NFT page on OpenSea. Following along so far? Yeah, I can’t make heads-or-tails of it either! Just go to my NFT Collection menu and follow the instructions from there.
Which brings me to my last point. (Don’t worry, we’re almost done. It’s been a long, strange 2 1/2 weeks!) Since the NFT/Crypto thang is a little too complicated, what exactly am I gonna do with this website? I mean, I’ve certainly enjoyed talking to you guys almost as much as I’m sure you’ve enjoyed listening to me. But a person can’t live on just talk alone. There’s gotta be some π°π° coming in, right? So about a week-and-a-half ago, I started chewing it over with what few brain cells I have left and it dawned on me…why now just turn the blog into an ONLINE CLOTHING STORE! I’ve always dreamt of doing that, but in my dreams, I always thought my store would just be named “Thang.com.” But since the domain Thang.com has been taken for close to 10 years now, I guess I’ll just have to settle for “DragThang.com.” But the company’s slogan remains the same. And that slogan is…AHHHH, you gotta tune in at a later date to find out, dear readers! Until then, Love, Peace and π‘π‘π‘! Johnny
