Guess what, Johnny! We just wrote a whole bunch of stuff and then forgot to click the Save Draft button up top! So we lost all of that kaka we wrote about 20 minutes ago! Oh well, chalk it up to another First. Actually, I should say First in about a decade, because it’s been about that long since I last wrote on a computer! Anyway, today was the first day in recorded history that we actually found something PRODUCTIVE to do at work! That’s right! In days gone by, we’ve been reluctant to bring a laptop to set, for obvious reasons. But these days, I guess some things — Well, I’ll be damned! Guess what! The computer actually DID manage to save our last draft! Apparently, it did it without us telling it to. It just saved it automatically when we closed the lid. Sum-bitch!
OK, so what’s the first thang we learned? (Actually, 2nd Thang. The first one was learning how to be productive at work.) So, something really FUNNY happened with my GoDaddy account. A couple of days ago. I choose my own avatar to be my profile pic through a service call Gravatar. I’m sure many of you have heard of it. It’s the service or app that WordPress uses to create a profile pic for your WordPress site. But the thing is, once you set up WP thru GoDaddy, you in essence have TWO WP sites: The one you set up thru GoDaddy and the stand-alone site you set up directly with WP. Sound confusing? It was! And that’s why I decided to DITCH the WordPress stand-alone site and just use GoDaddy. Unfortunately, Gravatar then got rid of BOTH of my profile pics because I cancelled my stand-alone WP site! So what exactly was I supposed to do with all this hotness! (See profile pic). Wasn’t a problem tho. All I had to do was go to the Users section and do a little mumbo-jumbo. And you wanna know what that mumbo-jumbo was, don’t you. Gotta go back and re-trace my steps! Actually, I’ll do better than that: I’ll actually post the LINK: How to Disable Gravatars in WordPress (wpbeginner.com). How ’bout that! It’s a hyper-link! And I just posted it. Another first!
So anyway, that’s how I disabled Gravatar and inserted my own profile pic on my WordPress Dashboard. We also learned a few other things, like how to publish from an EMAIL account. Tho, I don’t believe we’re ever gonna be doing that? But something even more trippy: Johnny, have you ever heard of something called Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)? I guess that all of the time zones we’ve grown up with; (EST, MST, PST) are all relevant to the number of hours they are from this UTC Thang. Who knew? If anything, the damned thang should be called C.U.T., but I guess that’s a little too combative? Oh, and one more thang; we actually opened our first Amazon Associates account…again, right from set! So all-in-all, a pretty productive day!
